The oil Hanuman ji is offered

Chameli oil has a specific place in Hindu practice that no other lamp oil occupies. Mixed with sindoor it forms the chola applied to Hanuman ji’s murti, and it is the oil lit in the diya before him on Tuesdays and Saturdays — the two days of the week associated with Hanuman and with Shani.

It is also offered at Shani temples, and used in Shani shanti observances.

Details

  • 100 ml chameli (jasmine) puja oil
  • Traditional jasmine fragrance
  • For chola, diya lighting and deity offering
  • Sealed bottle

How to apply Hanuman ji’s chola

  1. Bathe and clean the murti first.
  2. Mix sindoor with chameli oil to a smooth, spreadable paste.
  3. Apply evenly over the murti with the ring finger of the right hand.
  4. Offer a chola cloth, flowers, and a boondi or ladoo prasad.
  5. Light a diya with chameli oil and recite Hanuman Chalisa.
  6. Traditionally performed on a Tuesday or a Saturday.

Using it in a diya

Chameli oil burns cleanly with a cotton wick and carries its fragrance as it burns, which ghee does not. Use a round wick in a shallow diya or a long wick in a deeper one.

Storage

Keep sealed in a cool, dark place. Jasmine fragrance is volatile and fades in heat and sunlight.

An honest note

Sold for ritual use. We make no cosmetic, hair-care or medicinal claims for this oil and it is not sold as a food or skincare product.

Ideal for
