You move in once. The muhurat does not wait.

Grih Pravesh is performed at a fixed muhurat, usually on a morning when the family is already managing movers, keys and relatives. It is the worst possible day to discover that the navdhanya is missing or there is no mango wood for the havan kund.

This kit is assembled so the samagri is one settled thing on a day when nothing else is — every item the Vastu Shanti and Grih Pravesh vidhi calls for, in one box, with the vidhi book to follow.

How the ceremony runs

  1. Enter the new home at the muhurat, right foot first, with the kalash carried by the lady of the house.
  2. Boil milk in the kitchen and let it overflow — the traditional sign of abundance entering the home.
  3. Establish the kalash with gangajal, coconut and kalash cloth, and take the sankalp on the red cloth.
  4. Perform Ganesh puja, then Vastu Shanti puja and the Navagraha puja.
  5. Perform the havan using the havan samagri, samidha, mango wood and guggal.
  6. Offer navdhanya, complete the aarti with camphor and the shankh, and distribute prasad.

The enclosed vidhi book sets out the full sequence and mantras.

What to arrange separately

Milk for the boiling ritual, fresh flowers and a mango-leaf toran, fruits, ghee for the lamps, rangoli colours, the havan kund, and the pandit’s dakshina are arranged locally on the day.

Choosing the muhurat

Grih Pravesh is traditionally avoided during Chaturmas, Kharmas or Malmas, and on inauspicious tithis. Muhurat lists vary between panchangs and by regional tradition — confirm your date with your family pandit rather than relying on a published list.

About Advik Rituals

We are based in Sigra, Varanasi (Kashi). We curate complete, pandit-verified puja kits so families can perform rituals correctly without hunting for individual samagri. Pure ingredients. Complete vidhi. Sacred blessings.

Yes. Vastu Shanti is performed as part of the Grih Pravesh sequence and the samagri covers both, including the havan items and navdhanya.

The vidhi book covers the sequence and mantras, and many families perform a simple griha pravesh themselves. A pandit is usually invited where a full Vastu Shanti havan is being performed.
