A puja that happens at midnight
Krishna Janmashtami is unusual: the main puja is performed at midnight, the hour of Krishna’s birth, after a day of fasting. The cradle is rocked, Bal Gopal is bathed in panchamrit, and the bhog is offered — all in the small hours.
Which is exactly why nothing can be missing. This kit is packed so the midnight sequence runs without interruption.

Why tulsi is essential
No offering to Vishnu or Krishna is considered complete without tulsi. It is placed on the bhog before it is offered, and the prasad is distributed with it. A Janmashtami kit without tulsi is missing the one item the vidhi will not substitute.
How the night runs
- Observe the fast through the day; prepare the jhula (cradle) and the mandir.
- Install Bal Gopal in the cradle with the yellow cloth and flute.
- At midnight, perform the abhishek with panchamrit, then bathe with clean water.
- Dress and decorate Bal Gopal, apply chandan tilak, offer tulsi and yellow flowers.
- Offer the makhan-mishri bhog and sweets.
- Rock the cradle, sing the aarti, and break the fast with prasad.
