Nine nights, one continuous ritual

Navratri is not nine separate pujas. It is one unbroken observance: the kalash is established on Pratipada and stays lit until Navami, the jau is sown on the first day and must sprout through the week, and the mata shringar is offered across all nine forms of Navadurga.

That continuity is what makes a mid-week shortage costly. This kit is measured for the full nine days, so nothing has to be interrupted to go looking for camphor or chunri on Day 6.

How the nine days run

  1. Day 1 — Pratipada. Ghatasthapana: establish the brass kalash with gangajal, coconut and red cloth, and sow the jau in soil.
  2. Days 1–9. Daily puja to each form of Navadurga — tilak, akshat, flowers, naivedya, diya and aarti with the bell and shankh.
  3. Day 8 or 9 — Ashtami or Navami. Havan using the havan samagri, samidha and guggal.
  4. Kanya Pujan. Young girls are honoured as forms of the goddess and offered food, chunri and dakshina.
  5. Visarjan. The kalash is dismantled and the sprouted jau distributed as prasad.

The enclosed vidhi booklet sets out the daily sequence, the nine forms and their offerings.

Chaitra and Sharad Navratri

The same samagri serves both — Chaitra Navratri in spring, ending at Ram Navami, and Sharad Navratri in autumn, ending at Dussehra. It is equally used for Mata ki Chowki and Durga Puja at home.

What to arrange separately

Soil for sowing the jau, fresh flowers, fruits, ghee or oil for the lamps, and the food for Kanya Pujan are arranged at home. Ashtami and Navami dates vary by panchang and regional tradition — confirm your local dates before the sankalp.
