Most Satyanarayan pujas do not include a havan
Satyanarayan is the most repeated puja in the Hindu calendar — observed on Purnima each month, and whenever a vow is fulfilled. In most households it is exactly that: the kalash, the puja, the katha read aloud in five adhyayas, the aarti and the prasad. No fire.
A havan is added when the occasion is larger — a griha pravesh, a wedding, a first observance with a pandit and guests. That is when you need the Complete kit.

How the puja runs
- Clean the space, set the chowki, and establish the copper kalash with gangajal, coconut and red cloth.
- Take the sankalp, naming the reason for the puja.
- Perform Ganesh puja, then Navagraha, then the puja of Lord Satyanarayan.
- Read the Satyanarayan Katha in its five adhyayas, with the family seated together.
- Offer the prasad, perform aarti with camphor, and distribute prasad to everyone present.
A note on quantities
Item quantities in the Essential kit are sized for one performance of the ritual in a household setting. Where a puja runs long, has many guests, or includes a full havan, the Complete kit is the correct choice — it carries the same items in ceremony quantities plus the havan and extended naivedya components.
What to arrange separately
Fresh milk, curd and ghee for the panchamrit, bananas and banana leaves, fresh flowers, tulsi leaves, and the sinni or sheera prasad. The Satyanarayan Katha book and the pandit’s dakshina are arranged separately.
