Naye Vyapar Ka Shubh Aarambh, Ek Pavitra Sankalp Ke Saath.

A shop opens once. Whatever happens in the years afterwards, the owner remembers the morning the shutter went up for the first time — and it is performed with Ganesh invoked to clear obstacles from the venture and Lakshmi to keep the counter busy.

The Advik Rituals Shop Opening Puja Kit carries 60 essentials for that morning — Ganesh-Lakshmi puja samagri, kalash sthapana, navdhanya and nine further grains, kusha, a full havan with navgraha samidha and its own small kund, and the Shubh-Labh and Swastik sets for the door. Curated in Kashi.

Shubh and Labh Go on the Door, Not in a Drawer

These are the two items that make this a business kit rather than a house kit, and they are the two most often placed wrongly.

Shubh — auspiciousness — is placed on one side of the entrance. Labh — profit — on the other. The Swastik goes between or above them. They belong at the threshold where customers cross, and traditionally they go up after the puja and before the first customer walks in. Not on the cash box, not inside a cupboard, not months later.

Both sets are in this kit, along with the samagri to worship them properly.

Nothing Is Sold Before the Puja Is Finished

This is the part a first-time shopkeeper gets wrong under pressure, usually because a customer arrives early and it feels rude to turn them away.

The traditional order is fixed. The shutter stays down until the puja is complete. Clean the premises, hang the toran, draw the rangoli, perform the puja and havan, break the coconut at the threshold, place the Shubh-Labh and Swastik, distribute prasad — and only then raise the shutter and write the first invoice. The first cash taken goes into the cash box after it has been worshipped, not before.

Choose a morning muhurat, avoid Amavasya and the Rahu Kaal window for that day, and build the schedule backwards from it. Dhanteras, Akshaya Tritiya, Gudi Padwa, Vijayadashami and the first day of a financial year are the strongest days in the year.

Keep These Ready — They Are Not Kit Contents

These belong to your business, not to us, and they are placed near the puja for blessing:

Shop keys  •  New bahi khata or account book  •  Cash box  •  First invoice or receipt book  •  Business stamp  •  Products or first samples  •  Laptop or POS machine  •  Weighing scale, where you use one

Set them out before the sankalp so nothing has to be fetched mid-ceremony.

The Ceremony Sequence

  1. Premises preparation. Clean the shop and wash the entrance. Arrange the puja area near the door or in the north-east.
  2. Shuddhikaran. Purify the premises and the puja area with gangajal.
  3. Business sankalp. Read the sankalp card, naming the owner, gotra, the business name and the trade it will carry on.
  4. Ganesh puja first, for the removal of obstacles.
  5. Lakshmi puja according to family tradition.
  6. Kalash sthapana with gangajal, supari and akshat, covered with the kalash cloth.
  7. Navgraha puja where your vidhi includes it, using the grains and navgraha samidha.
  8. Blessing of the business essentials — keys, bahi khata, cash box, first invoice, stamp, POS.
  9. Havan with the 200 g samagri, guggal, samidha and navgraha samidha, with ghee arranged locally.
  10. Shubh-Labh and Swastik placed at the entrance.
  11. Aarti and prasad, then the coconut broken at the threshold — and the shutter goes up.

Shop, Office, Clinic, Showroom, Studio or Warehouse

The same ritual serves all of them. The quantities here suit a retail shop, a clinic, a studio or a modest commercial unit. For a larger space with a bigger gathering, the Office Opening kit carries a full kilogram of havan samagri instead of 200 g — worth comparing if you are opening a floorplate rather than a counter.

Before and After the Opening

An opening is one moment in a longer sequence. See the Office Opening Puja Kit, which carries a larger 1 kg havan for a hall or a floorplate, the Vyapar Vriddhi Puja Kit for the growth puja you will perform every Diwali afterwards, the Vastu Shanti Puja Kit if the premises are new or newly taken over.

What This Kit Does Not Claim

This is ritual samagri, prepared properly and completely. We do not claim it guarantees business success, increases sales, or ensures profit. A shop opening puja is a traditional observance performed for an auspicious beginning and for peace of mind. Any seller promising commercial results should be treated with suspicion.

What You Arrange Fresh

Fresh flowers and garland  •  Mango leaves for the toran  •  Paan leaves  •  Fresh coconut for the threshold  •  Seasonal fruit  •  Banana  •  Milk  •  Curd  •  Honey  •  Ghee  •  Fresh mithai for the prasad  •  Panchamrit ingredients  •  Lemon where your tradition requires it  •  Dakshina

Ghee is not included — a havan uses a good deal of it and it is available in every Indian city. Buy more mithai than you expect to need; more people turn up to an opening than are invited.

60, with every weight and count published on this page — Ganesh-Lakshmi picture, Gauri-Ganesh, Navgraha card, Shubh-Labh and Swastik door sets, kalash with cover, kusha and two pavitri, navdhanya plus nine weighed grains, 200 g havan samagri, navgraha samidha, a small havan kund and five printed cards.

Shubh on one side of the entrance, Labh on the other, Swastik between or above them — at the threshold customers cross. Traditionally they go up after the puja and before the first customer walks in, not on the cash box and not inside a cupboard.

Shop keys, a new bahi khata, the cash box, the first invoice or receipt book, the business stamp, your first products or samples, and the laptop or POS machine. These belong to your business and are placed near the puja for blessing — set them out before the sankalp.

Choose a morning muhurat, avoiding Amavasya and the Rahu Kaal window. The shutter stays down until the puja is complete — clean, toran, rangoli, puja, havan, coconut at the threshold, Shubh-Labh placed, prasad distributed, and only then the first invoice.

This kit adds kalash sthapana, navgraha samidha, a havan kund and the Shubh-Labh and Swastik door sets, and suits a shop, clinic, studio or modest commercial unit. The Office Opening kit carries a full kilogram of havan samagri instead of 200 g, for a larger space and a bigger gathering.

No, though it is customary for a commercial opening. The kit includes 200 g samagri, samidha, navgraha samidha, four gomay cakes, four cups, a spoon and a small kund. Ghee is not included and should be bought locally.

No, and we make no such claim. This is ritual samagri prepared properly and completely. A shop opening puja is a traditional observance performed for an auspicious beginning and peace of mind — not a financial product.

Fresh flowers and garland, mango leaves for the toran, paan leaves, a fresh coconut for the threshold, seasonal fruit, milk, curd, honey, ghee, fresh mithai, panchamrit ingredients, lemon where required and dakshina.
